Bring your Camera and Snap Away at the Scenic Water Palace and Rice Paddies at Tirta Gangga, Bali

Article by Exotissimo Travel

Tirta Gangga is a palace and village in Eastern Bali, near the coastal towns of Amed and Candidasa. It is renowned for its beautiful and elaborate water gardens and the nearby rice paddies. When translated, Tirta Gangga means water from the Ganges. If you love trekking in the midst of water fountains, pools, gardens, stone structures and the nearby rice fields then this is the place to be. The area is certainly one of the best and scenic walks in Bali, suitable to people of all fitness levels. A camera should be ready at all times!

Tirta Gangga was built in 1948 by the King of Anak Agung Anglurah, the king of Karangasem Regency at the time and is a site that Balinese Hindus hold with great reverence. Unfortunately, the site was almost entirely destroyed by a 1963 volcanic eruption. It has since been rebuilt and restored back to its original state.

So, what is there to see here? The 12,000 square meter water palace, filled with decorative ponds, fountains and lush gardens is an obvious choice. The main attraction here is the 11-tiered lotus water fountain which serves as the unofficial symbol of the water palace. There are also many beautiful carvings and statues adorning the gardens. The water circulating in the garden is considered holy and is used for important religious festivals and ceremonies.

The area around the water palace is also stunning. Beautiful rolling rice paddies are in abundance and serve as a great opportunity for photo taking. Nearby hills and mountains that dominate the horizon adds to the already beautiful scenery.

There is actually another smaller water garden called Taman Ujung located not too far from Tirta Gangga and constructed by the predecessor of King Anak Agung Anglurah. It may not be as grand as Tirta Gangga but it is still a site worth visiting. It was also damaged by the 1963 eruption and again by a 1979 earthquake, but has not has not been restored on the same scale as Tirta Gangga.

Bali villas – A home away from home

Article by Gautam Punjabi

From the moment a person starts his stay in a Bali villa, all his requirements are taken care of by the staff of the place. Things are never so easy for a person even at his own home. Home away from home is a clichéd usage but is often necessary to describe something that provides an ambience as good as one’s home. Even this may not be sufficient to describe a Bali villa, for Bali villas are not just as good as one’s home but are one step ahead of home in the way they are maintained and the way customers are taken care of.Bali has always been an enchanting island that attracted tourists but before the Bali villas that dot the place now came into existence, there was limited economy based on tourism because the amenities that the place provided was not enough to attract tourists. After the enchanting Bali villas came into existence, tourists are able to have more facilities than their own homes may have, and still have all the holiday funs that they can hope for, and also absorb nature in all its fullness. Bali villas may vary in size and features and can be of one, two, or three bedrooms. But all Bali villas will have a garden and a swimming pool, their size varying based on the size of the villa. Other facilities depending upon the size are large lounge area, as well as a spacious dining area. There will also be walk-in closets, cable television, stereo system, safety boxes, and Internet access. Customers can avail of all these facilities or only those, which they require. Every Bali villa will typically have a trademark conical roof, keeping in tradition with the conventional building style of the area.Gourmet food is another reason for tourists’ attraction to these Bali villas. Since a cook’s service is included in the charges of most of these villas, all that the residents have to do is order what they would like to have for lunch and dinner. And the cooks are adept not just at providing daily food but even at managing BBQ for small parties at the side of the pool. A Bali villa becomes like a real home in every sense.Besides home cooked food, all those who stay in a Bali villa will have access to what can be called an international menu. There are plenty of eateries around, variously with Italian, Japanese, Indonesian, Korean, or Mediterranean cuisine and all a tourist needs to do is scan the menus of these restaurants and choose what they would like to have. The hotel menus will be provided to the residents by the Bali villa staff, and the chosen foods will also be delivered by them at the villa.Since those who rent these Bali villas will be typically tourists, those who run the villas take complete care about their transportation requirements also. Many of the Bali villas pick up their customers from the airport and drop them off at the end of the stay. During their stay also they are dropped off at the beach or at a shopping street as required. For those who require extensive traveling, rented vehicles are made available upon request. As long as a person is staying at a Bali villa, he is spared even of the job of dialing for a taxi. What more comfort does a person need?
