Villas for Rent in Cyprus Long Term – A Great Idea!
Article by Kate Smith
Have you have ever dreamed about taking off to a place where you can leave pressures of daily life behind you and enjoy endless days of sunshine? If so maybe you should consider taking some time out in Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean, but still small enough to easily to find your way around. There is a great selection of sights to see, beaches to enjoy and local cuisine and wines to savour. There is a large selection of villas to rent in Cyprus for long term to choose from if you don’t want to be committed to buying Cyprus property for sale initially.
Cyprus lies just south of Turkey and has long been a crossing point between Europe, Asia and Africa. Because of this it still has traces of many successive civilisations – Roman theatres and villas, Byzantine churches and monasteries, Crusader castles and pre-historic habitats. If you are thinking of testing the water as it were before buying Cyprus property for sale then villas for rent in Cyprus for the long term or even self catering Cyprus apartments will be more comfortable and spacious than a hotel or a motel to stay in and you will be surrounded by creature comforts such as fully equipped kitchens, air conditioning and often a swimming-pool in maintained gardens.
Many nationalities, including over 50,000 British have made their permanent home on the island, many in villas for rent in Cyprus for long term, thanks to the traditions, charm and hospitality of the locals. The island has a fascinating history with a story to tell on every corner, take the time and speak to the locals for a true feel of this ancient culture, you will find them friendly, interesting and most will speak English.
Cyprus’s accession to the European Union in 2004, excellent infrastructure, high quality of life, low level of unemployment, comparatively low cost of living, generous tax incentives and allowances and one of the lowest crime rates in Europe combine to attract people from all over the world. It is Britain’s 5th most popular holiday destination according to Channel 4’s Amanda Lamb, she also ranks Cyprus property for sale ahead of the Costa del Sol, Tuscany, the French Riviera and Florida as the place to invest in property.
Villas for rent in Cyprus for long term and self catering Cyprus apartments are readily available in the towns of Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca, especially if you don’t want to drive and enjoy the hustle and bustle of resorts. Do check if you are thinking of staying in Protaras or Ayia Napa in the off-peak season, as there is a marked contrast in the number of tourists and locals and the number of bars and restaurants open between for example the months of August and January.
Villas for rent in Cyprus for long term are also a great way for any owners who are not going to fully utilise their properties, to earn some income. There is a steady market for tenants who for whatever reasons are not in a position to buy – it’s a win, win situation for both parties!
———Kate Smith recommends villas for rent in Cyprus long term are great to try before you buy Cyprus property for sale.

Flights to Bali
Bali is a small tropical island and is one over 20 thousand islands that make up Indonesia. Getting there by plane is fairly easy from any country. Before making a decision to book your flight or Bali hotel, you need to find out what the status is with regards Bali visa requirements for your specific country. If you are coming from an Indonesian country then you don’t need a visa but may need to pay air{port tax as you enter the country, whatever your visa is or the type of ticket you purchased you’ll have to pay an entry and exit tax. Even if your ticket specifies that airport tax has been paid, you’ll still need to pay at the airport before boarding your flight and when you land, so keep some local Indonesian Rupiahs handy.
Most western nationals don’t need to apply for a visa either, but will have to pay up to for a visa when they arrive. The method is fairly quick and there are plenty of manned stations to make it go as speedily as possible. For other countries a visa will have to be got before flying. Wherever you are coming from it is a good idea to find out the newest up to date info from the local Balinese consulate.
When flying into Bali you will arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport. Often you will find websites that talk about two airports, Ngurah Rai International airport and Denpasar International, but they are one and the same. Ngurah Rai international airport is situated in the southernmost part of Bali on the west coast not very far from the majority of the tourist areas. There are plans to build a new airport near the tip of the west coast at Jembrana with 2012 being the proposed completion date. This is designed to replace Ngurah Rai as the international airport and is going to be an extremely modern, well designed airport. The official name so far is Jembrana City International airport but most people are referring to it as the New Bali International airport.
Ngurah Rai International airport is the main gateway to the remainder of Indonesia and many world destinations. There are more than 20 major airlines that fly out and in of Ngurah Rai International airport. The biggest carriers of international passengers are ; Garuda Indonesia Airline, Jetstar Airline, Virgin Blue Airline, Singapore Airline, Thai Air Airline and Air Asia Airline. The other airlines will service mostly domestic and short haul flights to bordering Indonesian countries.
There are always numerous daily Bali flights from Singapore and a few other Indonesian countries with the longer international hauls flying a few times a week. Flight times and schedules always change so just check with your travel agent when flights go to Bali from your country. The less expensive long haul flights will most probably have one if not two stop over’s before landing in Bali and even some of the first class tickets will involve a stopover depending where you are travelling from.
If you are planning a trip to Bali and are looking for schedules and cheap Bali flights then check out Bali Accommodation. You will also find all you need to know about Bali visas and other important facts.
Nicknames of the Hawaiian Islands
Article by Benjamin Herrick
If you hear someone utter the word “Hawaii,” no doubt images of crystal clear waters, clean white sand beaches, and fantastic Luaus flash before your eyes. Every Hawaiian island certainly deserves such associations, but each island has a personality of its own. In fact, locals affectionately refer to the various islands with a series of semi-official nick-names that encompass some of the unique beauty specific to each Island. Let’s go through the islands by nickname and see if we can’t figure out which island they each describe.
The Gathering Place:
Waikiki Beach
This Island has the largest population of any of the Hawaiian Islands. Famous the world over for places like Waikiki beach and Pearl Harbor, the Gathering Place is indeed one of the most popular islands. Host to the NFL Pro-Bowl, the Gathering Place’s Aloha Stadium is home to some of the most lively tailgating anywhere. On Sundays when there are no games, the tailgating takes a more commercial twist as venders move in and set up the states largest swap meet. The University of Hawaii Warriors go to class on this Island, but if they want to see Lava they are going to have to fly on over to our next Island.
The Big Island:
With the most recognizable name, the Big Island might be the easiest island to figure out, but it’s certainly not the most specialized. In fact, the various climates on the big island range from deserts to snow, prairies to lava fields. If we were recounting the islands in purely environmental terms, any of the island descriptions could be considered as describing the big island. Current home of the Goddess Pele, the Big Island certainly shows signs of her activity. It is home to Mauna Kea, the highest mountain in the world when measured from its base at the ocean floor to the top of its peak. Some of the most powerful land based telescopes in the world can be found atop mountains on this island, but if you wish to set your sites on something more down to earth you might want set your targets on our next island.
The Target Isle:
Kahoolawe Bomb Crater
If you want to visit this island, look into getting certified for bomb disposal or tropical plant propagation. The Target Island was shelled by the US military for years as a testing site for various ordinances. Today, conservationists, government officials, volunteers and students across the state are working to return the target island to its pre-bombardment condition. By introducing native Hawaiian plants, the target isle may soon need a nick-name change, like the next island on our list.
The Pineapple Island/The Secluded Island:
Formerly renowned as a major pineapple exporter, this island’s name has changed over the years as pineapple production dwindled. 98% of the island is owned by Castle and Cooke, (Dole) with the remaining two percent owned by the state of Hawaii. Only two luxury hotels are located on the Secluded Island, which made it a bit easier on the wallet of Mr. Bill Gates when he rented the entire island (every room of every hotel room, every golf course etc.) for his marriage to Melinda French in 1994. The “Garden of the Gods” is located on the northern part of the island, and is home to some bizarre natural rock formations that admittedly don’t match the lushness of our next Island’s “Gardens.”
The Garden Isle:
Mokihana
This beautiful island is considered by many locals to be the most scenic and lush of Hawaii’s better known islands. The garden isle is home to Waimea Canyon, which you can easy to picture if you think of a more tropical, smaller grand canyon. It’s worth mentioning –since this is the garden island after all– that the mokihana (green berry) is the designated official flower. The most geologically mature of Hawaii’s Islands; the Garden Isle enjoys beautiful sandy beaches on fifty percent of its 111 mile long coast. At five million years old the Garden Isle is tied for the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands, with our next location.
The Forbidden Isle:
The smallest of the Hawaiian Islands, the 2009 census recognized only 120 residents. The forbidden island was purchased by Elizabeth Sinclair in 1864, and is now owned by her descendents, the Robinson family. If you wish to explore this unique island, make friends with its owners or residents, because admittance here is only granted after being invited. The Forbidden Island is home to several native Hawaiian plants and animals that can only be found there. The neighboring small islands, simply called the north-west Hawaiian Islands, are considered bird sanctuaries. Speaking of sanctuary, our next island acted as a safe haven of sorts for not birds but people.
The Friendly Isle:
Saint Damien
Sanctuary for early Hawaiians suffering from Hansen’s disease, the friendly island is perhaps most well known for being home to Hawaii’s only Saint. Saint Damien, or Father Damien as he was known during his time, spent the better part of his life at the Kalaupapa leper colony, easing the suffering of unfortunate individuals suffering from this devastating condition. The Friendly Island is perhaps so named because of its population being comprised of a majority native Hawaiians. On the Friendly Isle, no building is taller than the tallest palm tree, and there isn’t even one traffic light to be found. The world’s highest sea cliffs and the longest waterfall in Hawaii are both located here, but Hawaii’s highest waterfall is going to be found on our next island.
The Valley Isle:
Home to the second highest waterfall in the United States, the Valley Isle is the site of some of Hawaii’s most beautiful mountain ridges. The world’s largest dormant volcano, Haleakala, is located on the Valley Isle. It also has the most square miles worth of swimmable beach than any of the Hawaiian Islands. The Valley Isle is a lock year in and year out as Condé Nast Traveler Magazine’s worlds best island, as it is going on over a decade holding that distinction. The Road to Hana is one of the most scenic drives anywhere, and has hundreds or turns as it winds its way through the Valley Isle’s scenicâ• ¦ Valleys.
Were you able to figure out which islands are which? If not here they are from top to bottom:
Oahu, The Big Island of Hawaii, Kahoolawe, Lanai, Kauai, Niihau, Molokai, Maui.
If you want to explore these islands yourself get in touch with us at Discover Hawaii Tours, who will be more than happy to assist you with all your island discovering needs.

The speediest flights to Bali from Europe, the USA and Australia
Article by Matt Verbaan
There are numerous flights to Bali and depending on where you are coming from it can take just a couple of hours or almost a tour around the world.
For those travellers coming from the USA it must be one hell of a flight since it takes almost 24 hours to get to this beautiful island.
As you might have expected already there are unfortunately no direct flights to Bali from any of the airports in the USA. If you travel from New York the best option is to fly to Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific or American Airlines and then transfer on a flight with Hong Kong Express Airways straight to Bali. This ‘fast’ option will take approximately 22 h 15 minutes.
From San Francisco it takes surprisingly 21 hours with Delta Air Lines (operated by China Airlines) where you have to make a stop-over at Taipei before continuing your journey to Bali with China Airlines.
Flights to Bali from Los Angeles go through Singapore if you’re looking for the fastest option. It will take you 21 h 35 minutes to fly to Bali. Flights from Los Angeles to Singapore are operated by Singapore Airlines and the last stretch is operated by Garuda Indonesia.
Unfortunately there are no direct flights from Europe to Bali either. If you’re coming from Amsterdam the fastest option for you is to take KLM to Kuala Lumpur and then transfer here on an AirAsia flight to Bali. Total flight time is approximately 16 h 25 minutes.
London Heathrow flights to Bali are operated by British Airways to Singapore from where Singapore Airlines flies the last stretch to Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali. This is also the fastest option and will take you around 16 h 30 minutes.
The best option to take from Frankfurt am Main airport is to fly with Lufthansa or Singapore Airlines to Singapore with a connecting flight to Bali. This will take 16 h 20 minutes. For flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Bali it’s the same; take Singapore Airlines and it will save you lots of time.
Luckily for the Australians there are direct flights to Bali from the following Australian cities; Darwin with flights operated by Airnorth, Qantas and Garuda Indonesia (2h 30), Perth with flights operated by Ozjet, Qantas and Garuda Indonesia (3 h 35), Melbourne with flights operated by Jetstar, Qantas and Garuda Indonesia.(6hours)From Sydney there are also direct flights operated by Jetstar and Qantas and the fastest flying time is 6 h 25 minutes.
Have a save trip and see you on the beautiful island of Bali!

Bali sets to beat 2 Million Visitors in 2009
Article by Bali promotion
On a cumulative basis for January-May, total arrivals hit 827,044, up 9.35% from the same period in the previous year.
If Bali can keep up the current 9.35% growth rate through the end of 2009, this will transform into 2.15 million visitors and the first time ever that Bali’s arrivals break through the 2 million mark.
Japan and Australia are continuing to be the two main source markets for Bali tourism, representing on a combined basis a 32.54% market share of all arrivals.
2009 has seen the historical displacement of Japan from the number one ranking, a position now held by Australia.
In years past, Taiwan and South Korea rounded out the top-four source markets for Bali.
However, changing financial fortunes and the advent of new low-cost air services have seen the number three and four positions taken over by the People’s Republic of China and Malaysia, respectively.
Within the European market, the strongest performances are being turned in, in order of importance, by France, the United Kingdom, Russia and Germany
Bali is a land that seems to have a magnet at its very heart. It is a feeling that is difficult to understand unless experienced but once visited you are surely compelled to come back and you may even want to stay forever, such is its pull. Maybe its Bali’s beauty, maybe the friendly people, or maybe even the influence from spirits that certainly abide in this place.
Bali goes under many names. Some call it the ‘island of the gods’, others Shangri-La. The ‘last paradise’, the ‘dawning of the world’ and the ‘centre of the universe’ are yet more names for this truly beautiful tropical island inhabited by a remarkably artistic people who have created a dynamic society with unique arts and ceremonies.
Bali is small, just 140 Km by 80 Km and lies between Java, the most highly populated and influential of all the islands, and Lombok, one of the quieter and moderately slower paced islands. Like many islands, Bali has developed a world of its own. It not only captures what is special about Indonesia but also has a uniqueness of its own.
Daily life on Bali is culturally linked to satisfying and appeasing the gods, spirits and demons in the midst of breathtaking panoramas of cultivated rice terraces, impressive volcanoes and pristine beaches. Bali’s main volcano, Gunung Agung, is still active and sometimes explosive and is considered sacred among local people as it is believed to be the centre of the universe.
Lying just 8o south of the Equator, Bali can boast a tropical climate with just two seasons a year and an average temperature of around 28o Celsius. It has a whole range of different environments and activities for the tourist, many of which are covered in these homepages.
Economically and culturally, Bali is one of the most important islands of Indonesia. Rice is grown on irrigated, terraced hillsides; other crops include sugar cane, coffee, copra, tobacco, fruits and vegetables. Cattle and hogs are also raised. The Balinese are skilled artisans, particularly in woodcarving and in fashioning objects of tortoiseshell and of gold, silver and other metals. The Balinese are noted for their traditional dance, the distinctive music of the gamelan and for their skills in weaving cloth of gold and silver threads, Songket, as well as for embroidering silk and cotton clothing.

Lame Spas and Resorts
Article by Road Warrior
In the West, there seems to be an inverse relationship between the quality of a massage and the amount of theatricality that surrounds it. If the facility looks expensive, it’s probably all window-dressing. If beauty products outnumber the staff, or you are wrapped for hours in slimy vegetation, or your moment of zen is prefaced by a selection of oils with names like ‘Morning Flower’, ‘Essential Moon’, or ‘Stillness’ – then it’s highly likely that your massage is going to be crap. They may press hot stones all over your buttocks, burn incense, or tap symbals and gongs… but no matter of subterfuge will distract you from the fact that they can’t massage a pea from a pod. And, it’s even more annoying when they tart it up with a menu full of unfulfilled promises. Sometimes I wish they would just print the truth and save us all from disappointment. Here’s my reworked selection of the most popular ‘lame’ treatments that you’ll find: – Ayurvedic Head Massage: enjoy the sensation of being drowned in warm sesame oil, while a jellyfish gently dry-humps your scalp.
– Swedish Deep Tissue Massage: feel your sinuses overflow with phlegm after lying face down for an hour in our Iron-Maiden-table-contraption, while a petite woman drags her fingers like dead leaves across your torso.
– Thai Massage: you are Gumby; be one with the pretzel, as our untrained and overweight therapist explores the resistance of your joints and introduces you to a whole new world of consciousness and eye-popping pain.
– Bali Massage: Not one… but two incompetent people are employed simultaneously to finger paint with our essential oils all over your naked body, while you shiver and freeze in our air-conditioned room.
– Shiatsu Massage: imagine the ancient Japanese technique of unblocking vital pressure points, while one of our staff tickles your feet for half-an-hour, followed by a cup of tepid green tea.
Of course there are exceptions. But these are in Asia. There, spas tend to be cheaper and don’t beat around the bush. Some of the best massage experiences in Asia are to be found in cheap hovels below shopping malls, usually resembling run-down travel agencies, or betting shops. will buy you the most exquisite 40 minutes of reflexology you can imagine. If they are charging you more, then you probably went into one that offers happy endings. In either case, they won’t play ‘Cafe Del Mar’, or Zamfir CDs, and they won’t give you a choice of oils. Instead, they’ll slap on copious amounts of cold cream and get down to the nitty gritty of exorcising your knots and mottles.http://nomadz.net/forum/content.php?127-Lame-Spas
